Bordentown Township's Mayor George Chidley and the entire Township Committee would like to commend Troop #3 , (Florence/Roebling), for their participation on April 19, 2008 in an community outreach project that including painting crosswalks and related curb areas within the township.
The work was part of an Eagle Scout project to enhance community safety, by restriping crosswalks in high traffic areas adjacent to Peter Muschal School and Bordentown Regional High School.

Fourteen members of Troop# 3 participated in the Eagle Scout project by edging the curbs, cleaning the road and curb line as well as removing the debris prior to the actual painting of the yellow curbs and white crosswalks. The Troop #3 members worked many hours that began as early as 9:00 a.m. and were finished around 4:00 p.m. that day.

March 10, 2008

The Girl Scout Daisy Troop #21348 visited the Bordentown Township senior citizens group at their Valentines Day party. The Daisy Troop made Valentines for each senior at the party, (about 100) including our Deputy Mayor Bruce Hill to earn their outreach patch. During the March 10th, 2008 Township Committee meeting, each of the girls from the troop received a Certificate of Appreciation signed by the Mayor of our township, George Chidley.

Columbus Girl Scout Troop #26534 Visits Bordentown Township Municipal Complex
January 2008

The Columbus Girl Scout Troop#26534 sent representatives to visit the offices of Township of Bordentown. A few of the girls from the Troop wanted to learn about the different jobs and responsibilities of the township employees. The girls arrived full of smiles as they introduced themselves as Ahnnalisa, Amy, Katherine, Emily and Mara. They all shared the same age which is 15 and attend Northern Burlington High School as sophomores.

They are in the process of earning the Girl Scout Gold Award and this visit was part of the requirement for the award.

These enthusiastic young adults have made a real difference in their communities. There most recent project was a Day Camp for children in the summer. They have successfully organized, and manned a (non-profit), camp for children. The girls brought their own talents to the camp to create individual classes for the children.

Amy’s talent that she shared is in sports particularly volleyball and softball. She shared her vast knowledge and held the sports section of the camp. She is also the daughter of one our new employees, in the Clerk’s office, Cindy Dziura.

The other girls introduced their ideas and talents for classes. One project focused on creating a memory box, a scientific class using an experiment as their focus, another shared their knowledge of constellations. They used a plastic lid of a larger can and by poking holes in it to formed stars in constellations. They used a flashlight to project the constellations onto a wall. Lastly, a theater/dance class was organized by another Girl Scout in this long time group.

It was certainly a wonderful experience for the children who attended their camp and parents. These Girl Scouts have contributed a lot to their communities. They are aspiring to create an idea for our Community Day for a children’s craft table and planning to man the table for us to meet another requirement for their Gold Award.

They are remarkable young adults who spent their time visiting each department and the employees. The tour included the Senior Center, the Court Room and the Police Department. We would like to thank them for their visit and interest.
