Firearms Unit

Instructions to Firearms Applicant:

Upon receiving the application packet, please read the instructions carefully and print/type your information in the spaces provided. Omissions or errors will only delay the process.

References: All firearm applicants are required to list at least two (2) reputable persons who are not related to the applicant. 

Fingerprinting: All NEW Bordentown Township firearms applicants will be fingerprinted by the Morpho Trust Group and will be provided with the appropriate registration form upon obtaining the firearms application. 

Applicants who currently possess a NJ Firearms Identification Card do not need to be fingerprinted again.  These applicants who are filing subsequent firearm applications will log on to https://www.njportal.com/njsp/criminalrecords/ and click on the ON LINE FORM 212A which is a highlighted block on the lower left side of the page. Bordentown Township Police Department ORI number is NJ0030400. Upon completion of this form you will receive an email confirmation & receipt that will include a confirmation number. Upon completion, it is required that you contact the Bordentown Township Firearms Unit to advise of the successful submission of the form. The form will then be approved and submitted to the NJ State Police for processing. More detailed information can be found, if needed, by clicking the Help Tab located at the top right side of the page. 

Once you have completed all necessary documents, you must appear in person to submit your application.

FIREARMS FEE SCHEDULE

  • Firearms Identification Card: $5.00 EACH
    Cash, check or money order made payable to Bordentown Township Police Department.
  • Permit to Purchase a Handgun: $2.00 EACH
    Cash, check, or money order made payable to Bordentown Township Police Department. (For each permit desired)

NEW JERSEY LAW REQUIRES ALL APPLICANTS TO BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD TO APPLY FOR A FIREARMS IDENTIFICATION CARD AND 21 YEARS OF AGE FOR A PERMIT TO PURCHASE A HANDGUN
