Instructions to Firearms Applicant:
Please read the firearms applicant instructions carefully. Omissions or errors will only delay the process. Print or type in the spaces provided. You must print "Yes" or "No" in the appropriate blocks. Do not circle answers. Please answer all questions.
DO NOT SIGN DOCUMENTS EXCEPT IN THE PRESENCE OF POLICE OFFICER.
References: All firearm applicants are required to list at least two reputable persons who are not related to the applicant.
Law enforcement personnel: Must list immediate supervisor as the first reference and C.L.E.O. as a second reference.
Fingerprinting: All Bordentown Township firearms applicants will be fingerprinted in Bordentown Township. Applicants with proven identity, who possess a valid Firearms Identification Card and state Bureau of Identification Number and who have been previously fingerprinted in Bordentown Township. Need not to be fingerprinted again. Applicants filing subsequent firearms applications will be required to complete a State Bureau of Identification Request for Criminal Records Form (SBI 212A). This form will be supplied once the application has been received.
Once you have completed all necessary documents, you must call the following number for an appointment with an officer in the Firearms Unit: 609-298-4300, Ext. 2107. You must appear in person with application. You must have at least two forms of identification. One form should be a valid New Jersey Drivers License.
All appropriate fees must be payable to the appropriate agency (see below) at the time of appointment.
Bordentown Township Police Firearms Fee Schedule:
- Firearms Identification Card: $5.00
Cash, check or money order made payable to Bordentown Township Police Department.
- Permit to Purchase a Handgun: $2.00
Cash, check, or money order made payable to Bordentown Township Police Department. (For each permit desired)
- Fingerprinting: $60.25
Money order made payable to New Jersey State Police-SBI.
- Request for Criminal Records (Form SBI 212A): $18.00
Money order made payable to New Jersey State Police-SBI.
NEW JERSEY LAW REQUIRES ALL APPLICANTS TO BE 21 YEARS OF AGE FOR A PERMIT TO PURCHASE A HANDGUN
