Dog Licenses

Article II of Chapter 183 of the Bordentown Township Code requires all dogs older than 7 months to be licensed through the Township Clerk’s Office.

Licensing Period: One year licensing period starting January 1 to December 31.

Renewal and new licenses: Dog licenses can be renewed throughout the month of January. In order to renew a dog license, a copy of the current rabies certificate (can not expire during licensing period) and a copy of the spaying/neutering certificate must be accompanied with the appropriate fee. New licenses can be obtained throughout the year by mail or in person.  

Mail to: Township of Bordentown, Attention: Dog Licenses, One Municipal Drive, Bordentown, NJ 08505 and include:

1)  Dog License Application
2)  Rabies Vaccination Certificate (will be returned; vaccine must not expire before November 1)
2)  Proof of spaying/neutering (if a new registration or newly spayed/neutered)
3)  Payment (check payable to "Township of Bordentown")
4)  Self-addressed stamped envelope

Fees: The 2021 fee assessed for a spayed/neutered dog is $10.00 and for an non-spayed/non-neutered dog is $13.00. For renewals after the January 31st deadline, there is an additional additional $5.00 late charge. Licensing of new dogs will not be assessed the late fee.

Cat Licenses

Article III of Chapter 183 of the Bordentown Township Municipal Code requires all cats of older than 7 months to be licensed through the Township Clerk’s Office.

Licensing Period: One year licensing period starting April 1 to March 31.

Renewal and New licenses: Cat licenses can be renewed throughout the month of April. In order to renew a cat license, a copy of the current rabies certificate (can not expire during licensing period) and a copy of the spaying/neutering certificate must be accompanied with the appropriate fee. New licenses can be obtained throughout the year by mail or in person (when we are open to the public).

Chicken Licenses

Article IV of Chapter 183 of the Bordentown Township Municipal Code permits the residential keeping of chickens subject to standards and licensing.

Licensing Period: One year licensing period starting April 1 to March 31.

New Licenses:  Review Chapter 6.20 of the Code. Submit a completed application to the Township Clerk's Office. Once received, the Zoning Office will need to review the application and inspect the property for applicability. Upon approval, a license will be mailed to the property. If denied, a letter will be sent outlining the reasons for denial.

Renewal licenses: Chicken licenses can be renewed throughout the month of April. In order to renew a chicken license, submit a completed application to the Township Clerk's office with a fee (cash or check payable to "Township of Bordentown").  

Drop off or mail to: Township of Bordentown, Attention: Cat Licenses, One Municipal Drive, Bordentown, NJ 08505 with copy of current rabies certificate (can not expire during licensing period), copy of the spaying/neutering certificate, appropriate fee cash or check only, and self-addressed stamped envelope. 

Fees: The fee is $10.00 in cash or check payable to "Township of Bordentown".
