The Bordentown Township Police Department is seeking candidates for the position of Police Records Clerk/Principal Clerk Typist (listed as Keyboard Clerk I in NJ Civil Service). This position provides a vital link between our citizens and Township Police in a fast-paced environment that requires careful attention to detail, multi-tasking, and excellent customer service skills. Ideal candidates must be able to interact professionally with the public and maintain the ability to guard confidential documents. Must also have the ability to communicate both orally and in writing clearly and concisely; and have proficient typing and keyboard entry skills. The Records Clerk must possess excellent organizational, and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access. Familiarization with the NJ Open Public Records Act is a plus. Must organize, maintain, and secure police records and provide information or referral services to the public when applicable. Additional duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to; assisting in criminal case management by preparing discovery requests and other weekly court documents, sharing information among law enforcement agencies, ensuring the accurate accounting of funds received for records related services, distribution of departmental mail, and providing budgetary and administrative support and answering telephone calls.
