K9 Unit

BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP POLICE CANINE UNIT

The Bordentown Township Police Canine unit is currently comprised of one canine and handler following the graduation of K9 “Remi” from the New Jersey State Police Scent Detection Class on June 11, 2022.

Remi is a 16-month-old black and white German Shorthair Pointer. He weighs 60 lbs. and is a ball of energy. He loves to hunt, play, and nap. He was born in Hungary and shipped to his forever home in NJ to work for our agency. He is a single purpose narcotics scent dog and his handler is Ptl. Keith Alexander. Our department received a grant from the AKC Reunite Adopt a K9 Cop program to aid in the purchase of Remi and we are extremely grateful for their assistance.

Our canine unit provides assistance on a daily basis to our officers and mutual aid for surrounding agencies. We also assist with community policing by providing canine demonstrations and lectures for various community organizations and at community events.

If any community group or organization would like to schedule a K9 demonstration please contact us to make arrangements.
