REQUESTS FOR CERTIFIED COPIES OF A VITAL RECORD SHOULD BE SENT BY MAIL.
** Although the Governor has authorized virtual completion of marriage applications, we currently do not have the technological capability. With an appointment, we are willing to meet you in person to complete the marriage application provided that all parties (both spouses-to-be and the witness) wear masks and bring their own pens along with page 1 of the completed application and a check for payment OR exact amount of cash ($28). The Governor has waived the 72 hour waiting period so after the completion of the application, please be prepared to wait for 15 minutes for the license to be ready. Contact us at [email protected].
The Registrar of Vital Statistics records all marriages, births, and deaths which occur in Bordentown Township.

MARRIAGE APPLICATION/LICENSE: If either spouse is a resident of New Jersey, the marriage license must be obtained in the municipality where either lives. If both are non-residents of New Jersey, the license must be obtained from the municipality where the marriage is to be performed. A license may not be used outside of New Jersey and a license issued in another state may not be used in New Jersey.

MARRIAGE CEREMONIES: Burlington County Clerk Joanne Schwartz, who has married 367 couples since taking office as County Clerk, is performing weddings every Wednesday afternoon between 1PM and 4PM in the historic and picturesque Lyceum building on High Street in Mount Holly.

There is no fee for the service, but couples must obtain their marriage license prior to the ceremony.
