Your Township Government Update

Mayor Benowitz presented two proclamations in August. The first recognized Ryan Phillip Kaufman as an Eagle Scout. The second proclamation declared Ron Jacobsen of the Hackettstown State Fish Hatchery as an outstanding friend of the Township.

An agreement with the NJDOT was reached for the installation of a traffic signal at the corner of Route 130 and Crescent Drive.

Repaving work will start soon on Groveville Road from Route 206 to the entrance of Northern Community Park. This fall, the Township will be going out to bid for the road improvements to Holloway Lane and Williamsburg Drive. Designs are also in development for the 2023 Municipal Road Improvement Project. This project will consist of roadway improvements to Vine Way, Shady Lane, Arlington Road, Orchard Lane, and Thorntown Lane.

Two additional NJ Transit bus stops on West Burlington Street between Union Street and the I-295 overpass near the Juvenile Medium Security Facility were approved through the adoption of Ordinance #2023-09.

Planning for the new Municipal Complex continues. The Township awarded a contract to Winzinger of Hainesport to demolish the Township-owned properties at 765 and 803 Farnsworth Avenue. This will expand the municipal grounds and make room for the construction.

Lightning Safety Reminder

When Thunder Roars, Go Indoors! Due to the recent increased number of thunderstorms, Bordentown Township would like to remind everyone about lightning safety. Whether you’re spending the day at the beach or an afternoon at the pool, gather your things and seek shelter at the first sign of a storm. By the time you hear thunder or see lightning, you’re already in danger. You do not want to be the tallest object in an open field or stand under a tall tree. Learn more by visiting weather.gov/safety/lightning.
