On Monday, July 28, Bordentown Township welcomed Senator Troy Singleton to Joseph Lawrence Park, where he presented a ceremonial check for $200,000 in state funding to support the development of a new Splash Pad.
Thanks to Legislative District 7's efforts in securing funding in the State’s FY2026 budget, the Township will soon begin final design work and site preparations on this exciting new recreational addition, which aims to bring families together and provide children with a safe and fun way to cool off during the warmer months.
“I was proud to secure $200,000 in this year’s budget for Bordentown Township for the creation of a brand new ‘Splash Pad’ playground at Joseph Lawrence Park,” said Senator Singleton. “This family-friendly project will provide a fun, safe, and inclusive recreational space for kids and families to enjoy. Investing in parks and open spaces brings people together and encourages healthy outdoor activity. I look forward to seeing the finished project and thank Mayor Holliday and the Committee for highlighting this need.”
“This project is about more than just water features; it’s about investing in the kind of spaces that bring us together,” said Mayor Eric Holliday. “We’re so thankful to Senator Singleton for recognizing the importance of safe, fun, and accessible recreation for all ages.”
The check presentation was held at 11:00 AM in the heart of the park and brought out local families, township officials, and members of the community to celebrate the milestone.
“A splash pad might seem like a small thing, but to our families—it’s everything,” Mayor Holliday added. “It’s laughter, it’s connection, it’s cooling off after a long day. This is a big win for Bordentown.”
The splash pad will be located within Joseph Lawrence Park, which is already a beloved community hub known for youth sports, events, and outdoor gatherings. A previously installed independent well that irrigates the sports fields will supply water for the splash pad, ensuring that the water connection will not affect water pressure or availability for residents supplied by the Bordentown City Water Department. Updates on construction and project details will be shared with the public as planning progresses.
