A New Year, A New Mayor: Aneka Miller Leads 2026

In a historic decision, the Bordentown Township Committee voted at its Reorganization Meeting on January 3 to appoint Committeewoman Aneka Miller as Mayor of Bordentown Township for the 2026 calendar year, making her the first Black Mayor in the Township’s history.

Mayor Miller and Deputy Mayor Eugene M. Fuzy were formally sworn into office on January 3 by Congressman Herb Conaway, MD during the Township’s annual Reorganization Meeting. Additional participants in the Reorganization Meeting included Taylor Stokes, who performed the National Anthem; and the Reverend Angelo S. Wildgoose of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Plainfield, NJ, who offered the Benediction and Invocation.

Long before taking office in 2026, she was actively involved in the community through grassroots organizing with Building Bridges, volunteering with Literacy Volunteers of America, serving on the Bordentown School District Board of Education, supporting Habitat for Humanity, and serving on the Bordentown Sewerage Authority Board. These experiences shaped her belief that strong communities are built through transparency, partnership, and consistent presence. It is both an honor and a privilege for Mayor Miller to serve as the first Black Mayor of Bordentown Township -- a milestone made possible by a community that continues to grow together.

In addition to her community involvement, Mayor Miller brings professional experience in regulatory affairs, risk management, systems engineering, and project management to her role as Mayor. Her background supports thoughtful planning, fiscal responsibility, and effective governance. She is deeply grateful for the support of her family, friends, and Township professionals, and she looks forward to working alongside residents, partners, and local leaders to move Bordentown Township forward with integrity, unity, and purpose.
