The Bordentown Township Committee recognized Ryan Brovak at its July 20th meeting for earning the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Scouting.
For his Eagle Scout service project, Ryan created historical maps of the Christ Church Churchyard, helping visitors locate the final resting places of many of Bordentown’s earliest residents. The historic cemetery is home to members of some of the community’s oldest families, along with veterans of the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, and the Civil War. Thanks to Ryan’s work, this important piece of Bordentown’s history is now more accessible to residents and visitors alike.
Mayor Aneka A. Miller presented Ryan with a proclamation on behalf of the Township.
“Ryan looked at our town’s history and found a way to make it come alive for the rest of us,” said Mayor Miller. “That kind of initiative and heart is exactly what Eagle Scout represents, and it tells me the future of this community is in very good hands.”
The Township Committee also recognized fellow Eagle Scout Alexander Chestnut, who was unable to attend the meeting. His Eagle Scout project brought new agility equipment to the dog park at Northern Community Park, creating a fun and active space for local pups and their owners.
