Bordentown Township Remembers Mayor Nicholas D'Angelo

It is with heavy hearts that Bordentown Township shares the passing of former Mayor Nicholas “Nick” D’Angelo on October 8, at the age of 98.

Nick was born in Trenton, but Bordentown Township was home. He built his life here, and his service to our community spanned nearly five decades. He served on the Township Committee from 1974 to 1979, including as Mayor in 1977 and 1978. He went on to serve on our Planning Board from 1996 to 2008 and again from 2010 to 2021. He also led the Bordentown Township Senior Citizens as Past President, and he was a life member of the Bordentown Elks and a parishioner of St. Mary Church.

As his family shared, Nick believed in giving back to the community that had given so much to him. His years of public service reflected a genuine care for his neighbors, and Bordentown Township is better for it.

That sense of duty started early. As a young man, he served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He came home and spent his life working with his hands as a bricklayer and mason, a proud member of BAC Local #5 for 78 years.

Above all, Nick was devoted to his family. Not long after the war, he met Thelma at a local dance. They shared 73 years of marriage, four children, 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

To Thelma and the entire D’Angelo family, our thoughts are with you. Bordentown Township is grateful for Nick’s service and proud to have called him one of our own. He will be missed.
