It started with a vision… and a patch of ground. Back on October 15, 2024, we gathered together for a groundbreaking that marked the beginning of something much bigger than a construction project. It was the result of years of planning, conversations, and a shared understanding that our Township had outgrown its space — and that our community deserved more. This week, we proudly hung a plaque in our now-standing municipal building — a reminder of the day it all began. A simple piece, but one that holds so much meaning. It marks the day we officially turned the page and began building toward the future of Bordentown Township. It also stands as a tribute to former Mayor Stephen Benowitz, whose leadership and dedication to this community helped bring this vision to life. His impact is part of this foundation — and always will be. From that first shovel in the ground to the progress you see today, this project has always been about service, growth, and community. And it’s happening, folks. Stay tuned for the next exciting phase — furniture is on the way, and we’ll be moving in soon!

March is Women’s History Month — a time to recognize the women who have shaped our nation and our own community. Before founding the American Red Cross, Clara Barton spent part of her early career right here in Bordentown, teaching and leaving a lasting mark through her dedication to education and service. Today, that legacy of leadership continues with strong women serving our community every day — including the dedicated female mayors leading both the Township and City. We honor her legacy and the countless women who continue to lead, serve, and strengthen our community every day.

Just a friendly community heads up for our Bordentown neighbors. We’ve received guidance from Burlington County Health and the NJ Department of Environmental Protection regarding Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (H5N1), also known as bird flu, which primarily affects wild birds. There is no cause for alarm locally. As a simple precaution, residents are encouraged to avoid feeding or handling wild birds and to use caution in areas where birds gather. This helps protect wildlife, pets, and our community. If you see five or more sick or deceased birds in one area, please report it to NJ DEP Fish & Wildlife here: https://tinyurl.com/y2vvmxt3 Any questions? Contact Nicole at 609-298-4300 x2126 or nbencivengo@bordentowntownshippd.org. A little awareness goes a long way. Thank you for helping keep Bordentown safe and healthy — for people, pets, and wildlife alike.
